Biography
Bram De Looze, born on January 23, 1991, in Knokke-Heist, is a Belgian jazz pianist and composer. Recognized as a talented pianist from a young age, he studied jazz piano at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and the Antwerp Conservatory before continuing his education in New York at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he worked with mentors including Marc Copland, Reggie Workman, and Uri Caine. Throughout his career, he has been involved in numerous ensembles, including LABtrio, Pentadox, Stéphane Galland & The Mystery of KEM, Flux, and his own project Septych. He gained international attention through extensive touring with LABtrio and later developed a successful solo career, making his solo piano debut with Piano e Forte in 2017. He has collaborated with a wide range of musicians and appeared on numerous recordings. His notable releases include Coding of Evidentiality and Collective Effervescence with Dre Hocevar (2014), Talking to the Mlouk with the Axel Gilain Quartet (2014), Spotting Gateways (2024), and Live at Brussels Jazz Festival (2025) with Thomas Morgan, Joey Baron, and Hank Roberts. He received the SABAM Jazz Prize for Young Talent in 2016 and a Klara Award for Promising Young Talent in 2018. In 2020, he released the solo album Colour Talk, and he also appeared on Devin Gray's EP To the Point (2024).
