Biography

Lawrence John Gabriel Bridges, known professionally as Bles Bridges, was born on July 22, 1946, in Viljoensdrif, Free State, South Africa. He started his music career under the nickname Morné, releasing Adios, My Skat with Mini van Heerden in 1972. His breakthrough came in 1984 with the album Bles, which went gold within a month and featured the hit song "Maggie". Bridges achieved significant success with albums like I Am the Eagle, You're the Wind (1986) and One Dance With You (1994). He performed to sold-out crowds at Sun City's Super Bowl in 1987. By 2016, he had sold over three million records, making him the biggest-selling male singer in the Afrikaans music industry. Bridges died in a motorcar accident on March 24, 2000.
