Biography

Black Guayaba is a Puerto Rican rock band formed in 2000, known for their powerful blend of Spanish rock and heartfelt lyrics. The band began performing covers in local venues in San Juan before transitioning to original music with their debut album, Lo Demás es Plástico (2005), featuring hits like "Lejos" and "Atrapado." The album garnered a Latin Grammy nomination, setting the stage for their sophomore release, No Hay Espacio (2007), which earned them a Grammy for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album. After extensive touring, they explored new sounds on La Conexión (2012), collaborating with artists like Jarabe de Palo and Beatriz Luengo, and achieving Billboard success with the single "Tú Lo Sabes Bien." Their fourth album, Invencible (2017), included standout tracks like "Pronto Llegarás," co-written with Tommy Torres, and "Dulce Obscenidad," co-written with Pedro Capó. Beyond music, the band has supported charitable causes with projects like Tocando Latidos (2018). Known for their versatility and emotional depth, Black Guayaba has become a cornerstone of the Puerto Rican rock scene, blending innovation with deep cultural roots. 2024 saw the release of the LP La Fábrica de los Sueños, whose lead single "El Último Baile" peaked at number 23 on the Billboard US Latin Pop Airplay chart. The band would enter the chart once again a year later with a track from their 2025 self-titled album, "Se Va la Luz," which reached number 24.
