Biography

Billy Wayne Yates is an American country music artist. Inspired by artists such as Jim Reeves and Ernest Tubb, Yates began performing from a young age and later developed his career through work as a songwriter and demo singer. In the early 1990s, he secured his first songwriting publishing contract with Hori Pro Entertainment, which led to George Jones recording two of his songs for the 1992 album Walls Can Fall. “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair” was released as a single that year and received a Grammy Award nomination. In 1997, Yates signed with Almo Sounds and released his self-titled debut album, which included the single “Flowers” that reached number 36 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
