Biography

Bill Orcutt, born February 2, 1962 in Miami, Florida, is an American guitarist, composer, and singer whose blues and punk influenced his solo work. After forming the band Orcutt? with drummer Tim Koffley in 1989, he released his first solo album "Solo CD (Untitled)" in 1996 and later the album A New Way to Pay Old Debts in 2009, which ranked third on The Wire’s 2009 Rewind list. Subsequent releases included How the Thing Sings (2011), A History of Every One (2013), Cracked Music (2016), and Music in Continuous Motion (2026). Bill Orcutt collaborated with Chris Corsano, Loren Mazzacane Connors, and Okkyung Lee, toured festivals such as Donau, and issued music through Fake Estates and Palilalia Records.
