Biography

Bedhead was an American indie rock band from Dallas, Texas, that was active between 1988 and 1998. The ensemble was established by brothers Matt and Bubba Kadane and later included the guitarist Tench Coxe, the bassist Kris Wheat, and the drummer Trini Martinez. They are famous for a “slowcore” musical style characterized by clean, interlocking guitar melodies and subdued vocals. After releasing the early singles “Bedside Table” (1992) and “The Rest of the Day” (1993), they signed with Trance Syndicate Records. Their debut studio album, WhatFunLifeWas, was released (1994) to critical acclaim, followed by the recording Beheaded (1996). Their final studio album, Transaction de Novo, (1998) was produced by Steve Albini and featured a more up-tempo, distorted sound. The group disbanded in 1998 due to logistical issues and the shared use of their name with a commercial product. Their discography also includes the posthumous EP Macha Loved Bedhead (2000) and the box set 1992–1998 (2014).
