Biography
Barbara Fairchild, born November 12, 1950, in Knobel, Arkansas, is an American country and gospel singer. She began her career at 15, recording her first single and performing regularly on a local TV show in St. Louis by 1965. In 1969, she signed with Columbia Records and released her debut album Someone Special. Fairchild's breakthrough came in 1973 with the hit âTeddy Bear Songâ, which topped the country charts for two weeks and earned a Grammy nomination. She followed this success with tracks like âKid Stuffâ and âBaby Dollâ. Between 1974 and 1977, she had several other successes, including âStanding in Your Lineâ, âLittle Girl Feelinââ, âMississippiâ, âCheatinâ Isâ, and âLet Me Love You Once Before You Goâ. Fairchild transitioned to gospel music, recording both solo and with Connie Smith and Sharon White on the album Love Never Fails. She moved to Branson, Missouri, with her husband, Roy Morris, who is also a singer-songwriter.
