Laing, a German pop music group from Berlin, was formed in 2007 and consisted of three singers and one dancer. The lead singer, songwriter, and producer Nicola Rost named the band after her mother's maiden name. The original lineup included Nicola Rost, Susanna Berivan, Johanna Marshall, and Marisa Akeny. Laing gained initial recognition with their EP Morgens Immer Müde, released in September 2012, which featured a cover of Trude Herrâs "Morgens bin ich immer müde". The song reached the Top 10 charts after its use in a commercial and secured second place for Laing, representing Saxony at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2012. In March 2013, they released their second album Paradies Naiv, followed by the single "Nacht Für Nacht" later that month. The group participated in the German national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with "Zeig deine Muskeln" and "Wechselt die Beleuchtung", finishing in the top four. After a hiatus from September 2015 to September 2017, Laing released their third album Fotogena in 2018. The song "Zeig deine Muskeln" gained renewed popularity in 2021 through TikTok.
