Born in Norrköping, Sweden on February 24, 1993, Axel Schylström is a singer best-known for competing on the 11th season of Swedish Idol in 2015. At the age of 9, he was involved in a serious accident with a power line that gave him burns over 70% of his body. However, this did not interfere with his dream of becoming a singer and, in 2015, he auditioned for televised talent show Swedish Idol. He was selected to be a contestant on the 11th season of the show, where he became a fan favorite. He released his debut single, âThe Champion,â in 2015. Although Axel Schylström only came in 4th place and was eliminated in the live broadcasts, he became a fan favorite. In 2016, he released the singles âFörändra migâ and âMer Julâ before it was announced that he would be partaking in Melodifestivalen 2017, which is the annual competition that decides Swedenâs song choice for that yearâs Eurovision Song Contest. Axel Schylström performed the song âNär ingen ser,â which became his first chart hit and reached Number 31. Although his song didnât win, he was asked back to perform for the contest in 2023, where he sang âGorgeous.â Unfortunately, he didnât win that show either, but the single became a Top 100 hit, landing at Number 89.
