Assif Tsahar, born on June 11, 1969, in Tel Aviv, Israel, is a saxophonist known for his contributions to the jazz genre. He began playing guitar at age fourteen and later switched to saxophone and bass clarinet. In 1990, Tsahar moved to New York City, where he quickly became part of the local music scene, collaborating with notable figures such as Cecil Taylor, Butch Morris, William Parker, and Susie Ibarra. With Patricia Parker, he co-founded the Vision Festival, and in 1999, he established Hopscotch Records. Tsahar's discography includes Live at the Fundacio Juan Miro (2002), recorded with Peter Kowald and Sunny Murray, as well as collaborations such as Shekhina with Susie Ibarra and William Parker (1996) and Digital Primitives â Hum Crackle & Pop with Cooper-Moore and Chad Taylor (2009).
