Arthur Louis was a British musician known for his work in blues, rock, and reggae. Born in Jamaica, he moved to Brooklyn with his family at a young age and later attended Michigan State University, where he joined the band Terminal Stations and toured internationally, including in Brazil and Germany. Louis released his debut album, Knockin' on Heaven's Door (1975), featuring Eric Clapton and Gene Chandler. The album included a reggae-blues interpretation of Bob Dylanâs "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." The album eventually reached number 6 on international charts. Renewed interest in his work led to the release of his second album, Back From Palookaville (1998), followed by the retrospective and partially new material album Black Cat (2009). Louis also performed extensively in Europe, particularly in Italy and Spain, and collaborated with numerous artists throughout his career. He passed away on December 24, 2014.
