Biography

Armi Anja Orvokki Aavikko was a Finnish singer who was born in 1958. She achieved prominence after winning the Miss Finland competition in 1977 and subsequently began a professional music career. She frequently toured and collaborated with the singer Danny, and their breakthrough duet, “Tahdon olla sulle hellä” (1977), became a gold record in the year of its release. Aavikko released the collaborative albums Tahdon olla sulle hellä (1977) and Danny & Armi (1978). Her solo studio album, Armi, was released (1981). Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she continued to perform as a vocalist on cruise ships and released the single “Puhjennut on ruusu kukkaan” (1995). Aavikko retired from the music industry due to personal struggles and died in 2002.
