Antrisch is a German black metal band founded in 2020. It was founded by Maurice Wilson (vocals), Robert Falcon Scott (guitar), Otto Schmidt (bass) and Igor Djatlo (drums). The musicians use pseudonyms that go back to historical expedition members. The band's name comes from the Bavarian-Austrian dialect and means something like uncanny or strange. The conceptual roots go back to 2014, when Maurice Wilson wrote the first lyrics. 2021 sees the release of the EP Expedition I: Dissonanzgrat. The debut album Expedition II: Die Passage, which deals with the Franklin Expedition, follows in 2023. In the same year, Alexander Gordon Laing joins the band as second guitarist. In 2024, Noel Ewart Odell joins as drummer. On March 27, 2026, the second studio album Expedition III: Renitenzpfad is released via AOP Records. Antrisch plays atmospheric black metal with influences from doom, djent and dark ambient. The music combines dense soundscapes with narrative concepts.
