Biography

Anthony D'Amato (born November 27, 1987, in Blairstown, New Jersey) is an American singer-songwriter. He recorded his first album, Down Wires, during his senior year at Princeton University, graduating in 2010. The record earned attention from NPR, which called his song “My Father’s Son” a “modern folk gem.” In 2012, he released Paper Back Bones, a home recording that later received recognition in the UK. In 2014, D’Amato released The Shipwreck from the Shore on New West Records, earning critical acclaim; songs from that album were featured on the ABC series Nashville. In 2016, he released Cold Snap, recorded in Omaha with producer Mike Mogis, with contributions from members of Bright Eyes, The Faint, and Cursive. Rolling Stone named him an Artist You Need to Know, and he made his national television debut on CBS This Morning. His 2022 album At First There Was Nothing was his first release on the Blue Rose label.
