Biography
Ankla, a heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, was formed in 2001 by guitarist Ramón Ortiz. Their music was described as a mixture of thrash metal, metalcore, and death metal. The group independently released a self-titled 7-track EP in 2002, produced by Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga. In April 2006, Ankla signed with Bieler Bros. Records and released their debut album Steep Trails, produced by Bob Marlette. The band played the second stage at Ozzfest in 2007 and in 2008, vocalist Ikaro Stafford was replaced by Eddie Macias, who had previously collaborated with Ortiz in Puya. The band released the EP Persistence in 2012.
