Anjani Thomas, born on July 10, 1959, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is an American musician known for her roles as a pianist and singer-songwriter. She trained in guitar, piano, and voice before moving to New York City to pursue her career. Anjani's breakthrough came when she was hired by producer John Lissauer to provide backing vocals on Leonard Cohenâs influential song "Hallelujah" from the album Various Positions. This collaboration marked the start of a long-standing partnership with Cohen. Anjani's solo career began in 2000 with the release of her self-titled album Anjani. She followed this with The Sacred Names in 2003. In 2006, Cohen contributed lyrics and production to Anjaniâs album Blue Alert, released under Columbia Records. Her subsequent album, I Came To Love, was released in July 2014 as a digital download only.
