Biography

Andreas Ulvo, born July 22, 1983, in Kongsvinger, is a Norwegian jazz pianist, organist, keyboardist, and composer. Ulvo earned a master’s degree in jazz and improvisation from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. Ulvo performed with the experimental band Shining (2007–2008) and collaborated with artists including Ingrid Olava, Mathias Eick, Solveig Slettahjell, Karl Seglem, and Thom Hell. In 2010, Ulvo’s ensemble, Eple Trio, toured Japan. Ulvo led the Ulvo Ensemble, releasing The Sound of Rain Needs No Translation (2008), and collaborated with the folk group Slagr on the album Softspeaker (2012). His solo discography includes the albums Light & loneliness (2011), Unchangeable Seasons (2016), and Trust (2021). Ulvo participated in the album StaiStua (2016) with Frode Haltli and Sigurd Hole, and contributed to Frøy Aagre’s Cycle of Silence (2010). Additionally, Ulvo is a self-taught photographer specializing in artist portraiture.
