Andrea Menard, born January 5, 1971 in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada, is a Métis actress and singer-songwriter. After university, she wrote and performed The Velvet Devil, a one-person musical, in 1998. The soundtrack album was released in September 2002. Menard has acted in television series such as Moccasin Flats (2003-2006) and Rabbit Fall â Finstere Geheimnisse (2007â2008), and voiced characters in the animated series Wapos Bay. Her music career includes albums with Velvet & Hawk Productions: Simple Steps (2005), "Sparkle" (2008), Lift (2014), and Anskoonamakew lii Shansoon (Giveaway Songs) (2022). She has collaborated with artists like Buffy Sainte-Marie, Tom Jackson, and Joni Mitchell. Menard's song "Silent No More" (2018) addresses violence against indigenous women, and her album Simple Steps won a Western Canadian Music Award. In 2023, she was named Métis Artist of the Year at the Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards.
