Biography

David Patrick Thomas Myles was born on May 12, 1981, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He began playing trumpet at age ten and later learned guitar during a 2001 exchange program in China, which sparked his interest in songwriting. Myles released his debut album, Together and Alone, in 2005 after moving to Calgary, Alberta. He returned to Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2006 and released his second album, Things Have Changed, which earned him two Music Nova Scotia Awards and nominations for the 2007 Canadian Folk Music Best New Artist Award and the East Coast Music Awards Galaxie Rising Star Recording of the Year. His original song, "When It Comes My Turn," won first place in the International Songwriting Competition. In 2013, his collaboration with rapper Classified on "Inner Ninja" went triple platinum in Canada and won a Juno Award.
