Biography

Born in the town Galatina in Lecce, Italian singer-songwriter Alessandra Amoroso (August 12, 1986) first rose to prominence as the winner of the renowned talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi in 2009. She became interested in music from a very early age, participating in several local competitions before auditioning for Amici. She made the cut in 2009 with a rendition of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You,” and went on to win the contest by a wide margin. That same year, Alessandra Amoroso made her official debut with the EP Stupida, which shot straight to the top of the Italian charts and spawned a subsequent national tour. Senza Nuvole, her proper studio debut, also saw the light in 2009 and quickly reached Number 1 thanks to its title track and the single “Estranei a Partire da ieri.” An impressive slew of blockbuster albums ensued with Il Mondo in un Secondo (2010), Cinque Passi in Più (2011), Amore Puro (2013), Vivere a Colori (2016), and 10 (2018), all of which topped FIMI’s Albums Chart and obtained platinum certification. Following an appearance on Boombadash’s “Karaoke” in 2020, Alessandra Amoroso returned in 2021 with the singles “Pezzo di cuore” with Emma Marrone and “Sorriso grande,” which hit Number 36 in Italy and served as a teaser for her upcoming seventh studio album.
