Biography

Born on December 26, 1944 in La Plata, Argentina, Alberto Favero is an acclaimed pianist, composer, conductor, and educator. Born into a musical family, Favero graduated with a special bachelor’s degree in music from the Superior School of Fine Arts of the National University of La Plata in 1963. Beginning in 1966, he studied choral conducting, counterpoint, orchestration and composition with Guillermo Graetzer. He is known for his songwriting as well as his arranging, orchestration, and musical supervision in ballet, jazz, and musical theater. He’s worked in all mediums including recording, television, film, and stage. Over the years, he has collaborated with many artists including Manuel Bandera, Julio Bocca, Angela Molina, Marta Valverde, Jairo, Graciela Dufau, Harold Prince, and poet Mario Benedetti, among others. As a recording artist, he’s released several albums over the span of his career including the critically-acclaimed Suite Trane (In Memoriam John Coltrane) (1970), Nacha de Noche (1977/with Nacha Guevara), Albert Favero and Albert Favero Vol. 2 (both released in 1988), Classical Tropical (1989) and Leiv Motiv (1993).
