Akihiro Miwa (May 15, 1935 â June 20, 2026; born in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture) was a Japanese singer, singer-songwriter, actor, and director.His music centered on J-POP and chanson, and he was known for his unique singing style, characterized by deep emotion and literary depth.He rose to fame in 1957 with the smash hit âMeke Mekeâ and subsequently released numerous signature songs, including âYoitomake no Utaâ (1965) and âAi no Sanka.â His representative works include the albums *The World of AkihiroMiwa* (1987), *A Gift of Love* (1991), and *Singing of "Love"* (2001).In addition to his career as a singer, he received high acclaim for his work in theater and film, and was honored with awards such as the Japan Art Academy Prize and the Order of Cultural Merit.
