Biography

Rie Eto (衛藤利恵), born 29 September 1973 in Japan, is a Japanese pop singer whose career began in the mid‑1990s. After completing formal vocal training, she signed with a major label and released her debut single "Tenshi no hohoemi" on 30 November 1994, which established her presence in the J‑pop scene. Her early releases, including "The GIRL" on 10 October 1995 and "Kono Umi he" on 25 February 1996, charted modestly on national singles lists, demonstrating her growing fan base. In 1995 she issued the album Be there, followed by the 1996 Single collection and 6 Months 11 Dreams, both consolidating her status as a consistent pop artist. The late 1990s saw the release of Love Can Smooth The Way on 25 September 1997 and French Connection on 3 June 1998, further expanding her catalog. From 2000 to 2001, under the stage name amber, she issued the EP High & Low on 1 October 2000 and the single "Namida no Marijji" on 22 August 2001. After 2001, Rie Eto ceased personal releases but continued to compose for other performers, notably Spin Aqua.
