Andrew Turner, born in England, is a British DJ, producer and musician known professionally as Aim. After growing up with a jazzâdrumming father and running a record shop, Turner began DJing in the North West rave scene and coâhosted club nights such as Yummy and Euphoria. His breakthrough came when he handed a demo to Mark Rae, leading to a contract with Grand Central Records. In 1998 he released the Downstate EP, followed by the The Force EP in 1999, and his debut fullâlength album Cold Water Music on 27 May 1999. The 2002 release Hinterland continued his blend of downtempo and instrumental hipâhop, and he followed with the Means Of Production album in 2003. After a 2004 FabricLive.17 mix and collaborations with artists such as Stephen Jones, Diamond D and Souls of Mischief, Turner left Grand Central in 2005 to found ATIC Records and Speed Limit Studios. His 2006 album Flight 602 was issued on ATIC, and the Birchwood EP in 2007 closed the cycle. Throughout his career Aim toured extensively, including a 2007 appearance at Glastonbury, and produced for ATIC artists such as Niko and Sevens, solidifying his role as a producer and DJ in the electronic and hipâhop communities.
