Desmond Williams is an American electronica musician born in Jamaica. He began his career in 1993 working with Scientist, experimenting with digital audio techniques and mixing live events for artists such as Third World and Supercat. He co-produced the album International (1995) for Sugar Minott. Williams later served as the chief sound engineer for the Eighteenth Street Lounge Music record label. He worked extensively with the group Thievery Corporation, contributing to albums such as The Mirror Conspiracy (2000) and Richest Man in Babylon (2002). His early solo recordings include the EP Theme from a Dream (2000). He released his debut studio album, Delights of the Garden (2002), which became one of the label's top-selling releases. Williams co-founded Rhythm & Culture Recordings in 2003 and collaborated with Morel on a cover of the Nirvana song âSmells Like Teen Spiritâ (2007) for the Heart Shaped Box collection. In 2008, Williams collaborated with Vaughn Benjamin of the group Midnite to release the album Kayamagan.
