Acid Arab formed in August 2012 in Paris from the collaboration of DJs Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho, who were joined by Pierrot Casanova, Nicolas Borne, and later keyboardist Kenzi Bourras. The group originated as a concept that evolved from a Facebook page to a live act and became recognized as a pioneer of electroâorientale in France. Their first release, the EP Collections, appeared in 2013, followed by Jazirat El Maghreb in 2015, and the fullâlength Musique de France in 2016, all distributed through the Belgian label Crammed Discs. The partnership continued with the 2019 album Jdid and the 2023 release Three Notes. The bandâs catalog also featured singles such as "La Hafla" (2016) and "Barbès" (2025), while the forthcoming Resonance (2026) was released under the same imprint. Acid Arabâs touring history spanned over 260 performances between 2015 and 2020 across fifty countries on four continents, making the group one of Franceâs programmed acts outside the country, particularly in the Maghreb and Middle East. Collaborations included the Nigerien Amazigh trio Les Filles de Illighadad, as well as international artists Rachid Taha, Sofiane Saidi, Omar Souleyman, and Israeli group AâWa. Their music incorporated Arabic dialect, tamajaq, and Turkish lyrics, blending traditional rhythms with acid house and modern raï and chaâbi influences.
