Biography

AB Logic was a Belgian Eurodance project active mainly between 1991 and 1993. Formed by producers Jacko Bultinck and Peter Gillis, the group's formula is typical of the genre: a rapper (the Franco-Zairean K-Swing, real name Cedric Murril) and a Belgian singer, Marianne Festraets, on uptempo dance productions blending house, techno and hip-hop elements. Their most famous track is "The Hitman", released in 1992, which is a major club and chart hit. It reached number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and number 10 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. In Europe, the song becomes a hit in Belgium (#14), France and Germany, consolidating the band's status in the emerging Eurodance scene. Their eponymous album, AB Logic, was released the same year, and contained several other standout tracks, such as "Get Up (Move Boy Move)" (#83 on the Billboard Hot 100) and "AB Logic" (#29 in Sweden), which enjoyed moderate success on the European dance charts. 1994 saw the release of the single "Real World" (#204 in Australia), followed by "Welcome to My Heart" in 1996. The band's sound is characterized by fast beats, vocal samples and catchy choruses, typical of the eurodance/hip house wave of the early 1990s.
