9Bach, a Welsh musical group formed in 2005, consists of Lisa Jên on vocals and piano, Martin Hoyland on guitar, Dan Swain on bass guitar, Esyllt Glyn Jones on harp and vocals, Mirain Roberts on vocals, and Andy Gangadeen on drums. The band's name is a play on the Welsh words "nain" (grandmother) and "bach" (small). Initially, 9Bach focused on traditional Welsh-language folk songs. Their self-titled debut album 9Bach was released in 2009. Lisa Jên collaborated with Gruff Rhys on his 2007 album Candylion and toured with him during that period. In 2015, the band's album Tincian ("resonate") won Best Album at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. The group's third album, Anian ("nature"), was released on May 13, 2016. This album featured contributions from Rhys Ifans and Peter Gabriel, incorporating Greek and Middle Eastern musical influences.
