Alison Kinnaird is a Scottish harpist, glass sculptor, and writer born in 1949. Kinnaird earned an MA from the University of Edinburgh and began playing the harp at age 14. She is credited with starting the Scottish harp revival and the Celtic harp renaissance. Signed to Temple Records in the 1970s, her debut album, The Harp Key â Crann nan Teud, was released in 1979. Her discography includes the albums The Scottish Harp (1988), The Quiet Tradition (1990), and The Silver String (2004). Kinnaird collaborated with the Battlefield Band on the recordings Music in Trust Vol. 1 (1986) and Music in Trust Vol. 2 (1988). Her bibliography includes Tree of Strings (1992), which documents the history of the harp in Scotland, and The Small Harp Tutor (1996). Kinnaird was awarded an MBE in 1997 for her contributions to art and music.
