Zeichen der Zeit is a German music project initiated in 2004 by members of the Christian pop and soul scene. The aim of the project is to express one's own faith openly in music and to make it present in the secular media. The line-up consists of a changing variety of well-known German musicians, including Yvonne Catterfeld, Ben, Patrick Nuo, Rolf Stahlhofen, Xavier Naidoo, Cassandra Steen, Laith Al-Deen, Claus Eisenmann (Söhne Mannheims), Paddy Kelly, Judy Bailey, Sarah Brendel, Claas P. Jambor, Michael Janz (Beatbetrieb) and DannyFresh (W4C) as well as Mischa Marin. It is not a permanent band with a continuous line-up, but a collaborative project involving several artists. In 2004, the first album Zeichen der Zeit was released, combining pop, soul and contemporary Christian music elements and introducing the joint project. The single "Du bist nicht allein" ("You are not alone") becomes one of the project's best-known tracks and reaches chart positions in German-speaking countries. Stylistically, the project moves between pop, soul and Christian pop music. The second album David Generation follows in 2006, in which the number of artists involved is reduced in order to give the project a clearer musical profile. The single "Ich trage dich" ("I carry you") emerges from this second phase.
