PaweÅ Kaczmarczyk, born on February 8, 1984, in Krakow, Poland, is a pianist and composer known for his work in contemporary jazz. As a student, he participated in jazz festivals and began informal training under Janusz Muniak in 2000. He studied at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice until 2006. In 2001, he formed the trio K/B/D with MichaÅ BaraÅski on bass and PaweÅ Dobrowolski on drums, releasing a live album in 2005 that was named "Album of the Year" by TVP2. In 2009, his debut solo album Complexity in Simplicity under ACT Records marked a significant breakthrough, leading to performances at major festivals like the Leverkusener Jazztagen and Palatia Jazz. Kaczmarczyk collaborated with notable artists such as Lee Konitz and Jon Christensen. He received multiple awards, including "Artist of the Year" in 2010 and 2016, and "Album of the Year" for Vars & Kaper: DeconstructION.
