Biography

Zaine Griff, born Glenn Mikkelson on October 4, 1957, in Auckland, New Zealand, is a singer known for his contributions to electronic music. At age 16, he joined the rock band The Human Instinct as their bassist. In the 1970s, Griff moved to England and continued his musical career, playing bass guitar with Kevin Ayers and The Kinks on their album Misfits. His solo career began in 1979 with the release of "Tonight" and "Ashes and Diamonds", produced by Tony Visconti. His debut album, Ashes And Diamonds, was released in 1980, followed by Figures in 1982, which featured collaborations with Hans Zimmer, Kate Bush, Warren Cann, and Yukihiro Takahashi. Notable singles from this period include "Tonight" (peaked at Number 54) and "Ashes and Diamonds" (reached Number 68). In 2011, Griff returned to live music with a series of concerts in New Zealand and later performed in London and Tokyo. His albums Child Who Wants The Moon (2011), The Visitor (2013), and subsequent releases have continued his musical journey.
