Yuval Cohen, born in 1973 in Tel Aviv, Israel, is a jazz soprano saxophonist, bandleader, and composer. He studied at the Conservatorium in Tel Aviv and served in the Israeli Army from 1991 to 1994, playing in the army's big band as an alto saxophonist and co-leader. After graduating summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 1996, Cohen released his debut album Freedom in 2007, followed by Song Without Words in 2010, a duo with pianist Shai Maestro, and Hakol Zehavi in 2014. Cohen is part of the family band The 3 Cohens, which includes his siblings Avishai and Anat Cohen. With the group, he also released One (2004), Braid (2007), Family (2011), and Tightrope (2013). The band won the Down Beat Critics Poll in the Rising Star Jazz Group category in 2014.
