Biography

Yuri Goloubev, born on July 27, 1972, in Moscow, is a double bass player, musician, and composer known for his work in both classical and jazz music. He won the First Prize in the All-Soviet-Union Students' Competition in 1990 and earned his master's degree in double bass from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 1995. In December 2004, Goloubev transitioned to jazz and quickly gained attention in Italy. He collaborated with notable artists including Francesco Bearzatti, Paolo Fresu, and Bob James. His album releases include Duonomics (2018) and Two Chevrons Apart (2020). Goloubev has also taught at institutions such as the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff and the Siena Jazz University - Accademia Nazionale del Jazz, Siena. He was awarded the title Honored Artist of Russia in 2002.
