Biography

YĪN YĪN, a Dutch band from Maastricht formed in 2017, emerged from a jam session between Yves Lennertz and Kees Berkers. Their debut single, “Dion Ysiusk”, released in 2018, introduced the band’s blend of psychedelia, funk, disco, and Southeast Asian influences. In 2019, they released their first full-length album, The Rabbit That Hunts Tigers, on Bongo Joe Records, followed by the single “One Inch Punch” in 2019. The band toured extensively, including a performance at the Lowlands festival, before a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. While on lockdown, they wrote and recorded The Age of Aquarius, issued in 2022, and in 2024 released Mount Matsu after incorporating Japanese musical elements. Line-up changes saw Erik Bandt replace departing Yves Lennertz in 2023, and Jerry Scherry replace Robbert Verwijlen in January 2025. The group remained active, continuing to expand its catalog with new releases and touring engagements.
