Biography

Yamê, whose real name is Emmanuel Sow, is a French-Cameroonian rapper and singer born on April 19, 1993 in Cergy-Pontoise. He spent part of his childhood in Douala, Cameroon, where he took up the piano, influenced by his father, the famous musician M'Backé Ngoup'Emanty. Following the tragic death of his mother, he returned to France with his family and settled in Paris. In parallel with his higher education, which enabled him to obtain a master's degree in information and data research, Yamê developed a musical style blending rap, vocals and influences from his Cameroonian roots. He began sharing his first tracks on TikTok, where his hybrid universe quickly won over a wide audience. In 2021, he released his first album, Agent 237, a tribute to his homeland, followed in 2023 by Elowi, an introspective project whose title means "that which is not visible" in the Mbo' language. The track "Bécane", taken from this album, is certified gold in 2024 and reaches 33ᵉ place in the French charts. In 2024, he was named male revelation at the Victoires de la musique awards.
