Wooden Shjips, an American experimental and psychedelic rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 2006. They were known for their experimental sound, often compared to bands like Suicide and The Velvet Underground. The group's early releases included the 10" "Shrinking Moon for You" in 2006 and the single "Loose Lips b/w Start to Dreaming" in 2007. Their debut album, Wooden Shjips, was also released in 2007. The band gained significant attention with their subsequent albums, including Dos (2009), West (2011), and Back to Land (2013). Guitarist Ripley Johnson also played in side projects like Moon Duo and released solo music under the name Rose City Band.
