Biography
Wolfgang Flür, born on July 17, 1947 in Frankfurt am Main, is a German musician and former drummer of the electro-pop group Kraftwerk. While still at school, he played drums in various amateur bands, including Spirits of Sound, together with Michael Rother. After training as a builder and cabinetmaker and studying interior design in Düsseldorf, Wolfgang Flür became a permanent member of Kraftwerk in 1973. There, together with Florian Schneider, he developed an early electronic drum kit, which was first presented on the ZDF program Aspekte in 1973. During his time with Kraftwerk, Wolfgang Flür worked on the albums Autobahn (1974), Radio-Aktivität (1975), Trans Europa Express (1977), Die Mensch-Maschine (1978) and Computerwelt (1981). He left the band in 1986 after the release of Electric Café. In 1993, Wolfgang Flür founded the Jamo project, which was later renamed Yamo. In 1997, the album Time Pie was released, a collaboration with Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner from Mouse on Mars. The singles released were "Guiding Ray" and "Stereomatic". In 2015, Wolfgang Flür released the album Eloquence: Complete Works under his own name. This was followed in 2020 by the album Transhuman in collaboration with U96, and in 2022 Magazine 1 was released, on which he collaborated with artists such as Peter Hook and Carl Cox. At the end of March 2025, the artist released another studio album, Times.
