Biography
Wizard, a German heavy metal band, was founded in 1989 by drummer Sören "Snoppi" van Heek. The band originated from Bocholt and initially played thrash metal before transitioning to classic heavy metal with speed metal elements. Their first demo, Legion of Doom, was released in 1991, followed by their debut album, Son of Darkness, in 1995. In 1998, Wizard signed with B.O. Records and released Bound by Metal, which was released in 1999 and marked a significant breakthrough for the band. They later signed with Limb Music Products and released several successful albums, including Head of the Deceiver (2001) and Odin (2003). Notable achievements include performances at major festivals like Wacken Open Air in 2002 and a tour with Grave Digger and Symphorce in 2004. The band continued to release albums, such as Goochan, under Massacre Records in 2007.
