Biography

The Wise Guys are a German music group that emerged from a school band in Cologne in the early 1990s. The group mostly sings a cappella and describes their musical style as "vocal pop". Together they released their first album Dut-Dut-Duah! (1994), which contains a large proportion of cover versions and exclusively English-language songs. Subsequently, the group concentrated on German-language, rhythm-driven original compositions. In the course of the 1990s, the Wise Guys became known to a wider audience through television appearances and the release of their albums Haarige Zeiten (1996), Alles im grünen Bereich (1997) and Skandal (1999). Their Germany-wide breakthrough came in 2001 with the song "Jetzt ist Sommer" and the album Ganz weit vorn. The album Klartext entered the German charts at number 10 in 2003, Radio reached third place in 2006 and Frei! entered at number 2 in 2008. Between 2010 and 2014, the Wise Guys released three more top 3 albums. In February 2016, they announced their intention to disband the group. For the two official farewell concerts in front of around 15,000 fans, the Wise Guys return to the place where their career began, the Tanzbrunnen in Cologne, in the summer of 2017.
