Biography
Winterfylleth, an English black metal band from Manchester, was formed in 2006. Their debut demo, Rising of the Winter Full Moon (2007), gained attention within the underground heavy metal scene and led to a contract with Profound Lore Records. Their first album, The Ghost of Heritage (2008), received critical acclaim. Following controversies, they released The Mercian Sphere (2010) on Candlelight Records, which was named Album of the Month by Terrorizer magazine and propelled them onto international stages. Subsequent albums like The Threnody of Triumph (2012) and The Divination of Antiquity (2014) received high praise, with the latter earning them the "best underground band" award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in 2015. Winterfylleth followed up with albums The Dark Hereafter (2016), The Hallowing of Heirdom (2018), The Reckoning Dawn (2020), and The Imperious Horizon (2024). In 2025, long-term bassist Nick Wallwork stepped down from the band after sixteen years of service, and in 2026 they parted ways with Candlelight Records. Their ninth album, The Unyielding Season (2026), was released through Napalm Records.
