Biography
Winterfylleth, an English black metal band from Manchester, was formed in 2006. Their debut demo, Rising of the Winter Full Moon, released in 2007, gained attention within the underground heavy metal scene and led to a contract with Profound Lore Records. The first album, The Ghost of Heritage (October 2008), received critical acclaim. Following controversies, the band released The Mercian Sphere (July 2010) on Candlelight Records, which was named Album of the Month by Terrorizer magazine and propelled them onto international stages. Subsequent albums like The Threnody of Triumph (September 2012) and The Divination of Antiquity (October 2014) continued to receive high praise, with the latter earning them the "Best Underground Band" award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in 2015. The band followed up with albums The Dark Hereafter (2016), The Hallowing of Heirdom (2018), The Reckoning Dawn (2020) and The Imperious Horizon (2024). In 2025, long term bassist Nick Wallwork stepped down from the band after sixteen years of service, and in 2026 Winterfylleth parted ways with Cantlelight Records. Their ninth album, The Unyielding Season, was released in 2026 through Napalm Records.
