Wilfred Arthur Charles Carter, known professionally as Wilf Carter and also as Montana Slim in the United States, was a Canadian country music singer-songwriter, guitarist, and yodeller born on December 18, 1904, in Port Hilford, Nova Scotia. Carter's musical journey began after seeing a traveling Swiss performer named the Yodelling Fool in Canning, Nova Scotia. His first radio broadcast was on CFCN Alberta in 1930, and he soon became popular in the region. In 1933, Carter made his first recording: "My Swiss Moonlight Lullaby" and "The Capture of Albert Johnson", which became hits after signing with RCA Victor. He hosted his own CBS country music radio program from 1934 to 1940. Wilf Carter died on December 5, 1996, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
