Whitney Shay (born September 16) is an American blues, soul, and R&B singer and songwriter from La Mesa, California. After graduating from San Diego State University in 2008, Shay formed a band to perform in local venues. She released her debut album, Soul Tonic, in 2012, which was produced by Archie Thompson. Shay provided backing vocals for James Harmanâs album Bonetime in 2015. She released her second studio album, A Woman Rules the World, in 2018. Shay won the Artist of the Year and Best Blues Album awards at the 2019 San Diego Music Awards. Her third album, Stand Up, appeared in February 2020 and debuted at Number One on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart. Her songs featured in media including the television show Timeless and the film A Madea Family Funeral.
