Werner Neumann is a German jazz guitarist and music educator. He began playing guitar as a teenager and studied musicology at the University of Cologne, followed by jazz guitar studies at the Arnhem Conservatory and Cologne University of Music. Neumann performed with a wide range of artists, including Richie Beirach, Keith Copeland, John Goldsby, Dave King, Simon Nabatov, and Mel Collins. Since 1988, he has been active in ensembles such as the Franck Band, Trio Neuberling, Drei vom Rhein, MEAN, No Kissing, and BabY BoOmer, and has recorded extensively, including with the Hannes Clauss Quartet and the Trio Wenet. He has also contributed as a guitarist and composer to films like Der WiXXer, Die Unschuld der Krähen, and Ein fliehendes Pferd. As an educator, Werner Neumann taught at several institutions before becoming a professor at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre in 2005.
