Biography
Elder are an American rock ensemble from Massachusetts formed in 2006. The group was established by Nick DiSalvo, Chas Mitchell, and Matt Couto. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style blending doom metal and stoner rock. Their recording career began with the extended play Double EP (2006), a split with Queen Elephantine. Following the departure of Mitchell, Jack Donovan joined the ensemble as bassist in 2008. They released the debut studio recording Elder (2008), followed by Dead Roots Stirring (2011). In 2013, they performed at the Roadburn Festival. Mike Risberg joined the ensemble on guitars and keyboards in 2017. Their discography includes the studio recordings Lore (2015) and Reflections of a Floating World (2017), the latter ranked number 5 on the Rolling Stone list of best metal albums. Following the departure of Couto in 2019, Georg Edert joined the group. Their recording career includes the studio recording Omens (2020), which reached number 80 on the German charts. They collaborated with the ensemble Kadavar for the studio recording Eldovar â A Story of Darkness & Light (2021). Their discography includes the studio recordings Innate Passage (2022) and Through Zero (2026).
