Biography

Real name Thibaud Vanhooland, singer Voyou was born in Lille in 1989. The son of a music teacher, he was exposed to music theory and instruments from an early age. A trumpeter by training, he studied at the conservatory from an early age and spent his teenage years in Nantes, where he continued his musical activities. Also a bassist, he collaborated with local bands Rhum for Pauline, Elephanz and Pégase, before launching his own career under the name Voyov, then Voyou. Signed to the A+LSO label, the author, composer, multi-instrumentalist and performer produced the Seul sur Ton Tandem (2017) and On S'Emmène avec Toi (2018) EPs, then recorded his debut album Les Bruits de la Ville (2019), featuring Yelle on the title track and an expanded edition with the seven tracks from the Les Confettis en Désordre EP. A fourth EP released in 2020, Chroniques Terrestres (Vol. 1), is followed by the duet "Soleil soleil" with November Ultra, included on his second album Les Royaumes Minuscules (2023). After a collaboration with Albin de la Simone, where he plays trumpet and flugelhorn on Les Cent Prochaines Années (2023), the Seul EP unveils the duets "Le Bal" with Vanessa Paradis and "Les Tétons " with Pi Ja Ma in 2024. In 2025, the album Henri Salvador Est Un Voyou pays tribute to the author of "Dans mon île" with eleven of the most tender covers in his repertoire.
