Vow Wow, a Japanese hard rock/heavy metal band, was formed in 1975 and consisted of Kyoji Yamamoto on guitar and vocals, Mitsuhiro Saito on guitar and vocals, Toshihiro Niimi on drums, and Kenji Sano on bass. The group initially signed with Victor Entertainment and released their self-titled debut album Bow Wow in 1976. In 1980, they contributed the song "Soldier in the Space" to the television series Bomber X. Their early albums, including Signal Fire, Charge, and Guarantee, were produced by Touru Yazawa. The band gained international recognition performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982 and the Reading Festival in England later that year. In 1984, Mitsuhiro Saito left the group, leading to a name change to Vow Wow and a shift in musical style with the addition of keyboardist Rei Atsumi. The band relocated to London in 1987, where they recorded V with producer Kit Woolven and released notable singles like "Don't Leave Me Now". They returned to Japan for a national tour and produced Helter Skelter. After disbanding on May 28, 1990, following a concert at the Nippon Budokan, Kyoji Yamamoto reformed Bow Wow in 1995 with new members. The band's discography includes notable albums like Beat of Metal Motion, Cyclone, and Helter Skelter.
