Vladimir Karparov is a Bulgarian jazz saxophonist and composer born on January 6, 1977, in Sofia. He began playing the saxophone at age 13 and initially performed as a street musician. Karparov studied at the National Academy of Music in Sofia from 1995 to 1999, later completing his studies in Berlin in 2005. Karparovâs professional career involved collaborations with ensembles including Wikeda and the Interzone Jazz Orchestra. He worked with musicians such as Theodosii Spassov and Jiggs Whigham. His recording career featured the debut album Thracian Dance (2008), the duo album East Side Story (2010), Antihypocrisyl (2016), and Iglika (2022). Karparov received the award for Best Young Jazz Musician of the Year in Bulgaria in 1996 and third prize at the International Jazz Competition in Monaco in 1999. In 2020, he received a certificate for his contribution to promoting Bulgarian culture from the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
