Vigleik Storaas, born on February 2, 1963, in Bergen, Norway, is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer. He studied music at U-Phils High School in Bergen before attending the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium from 1982 to 1984. Storaas began his career playing with various bands such as Kråbøl, Søyr, Bjørn Alterhaug Band, and Fair Play. He led the group Lines from 1987 to 1992 and was recognized for his compositions both nationally and internationally. In 1992, Storaas formed his own trio with Johannes Eick and Per Oddvar Johansen, which has produced several recordings. His notable collaborations include performances with Karin Krog, John Surman, and the Nordic Quartet. Storaas has released multiple albums under Vigleik Storaas Trio, including Bilder (1995) and Andre Bilder (1997), both of which won the Spellemannprisen (The Norwegian Grammy Award), and under his name, including Open Excursions (1999) and Open Ears (2010). He was named Jazz Musician of the Year by the Association of Norwegian Jazz Musicians in 1996.
