Vi-Em (often styled VI-EM) is a Uruguayan cumbia-pop group formed in Montevideo in 2010 that first built its audience through upbeat covers before moving into original songs shaped for youth parties and radio-friendly hooks. The group's lineup consists of Juan Andrés Iglesias (lead vocals), Ignacio Caramés and Gabriel Dal Cin (percussion), Jhosin Sena (animator), Marco Amoroso and Lautaro Moreno (keyboards), and Rafael Lizarazu (guitar), a setup that matched their âtropical urbanoâ blend of cumbia pulse, pop choruses, and crowd-call moments. Their first major breakthrough came with âQuiero Verte Bailar,â recorded with Argentinaâs Grupo Play, and they consolidated that run with their debut album Canta (2014), led by the title track âCanta,â which became their signature early-era anthem. After the initial peak years, Vi-Em kept resurfacing through new versions and collaborations, including âQuiero Verte Bailar (Remix)â (2023) credited with Grupo Play, Flor Vigna, and Max Carra, which reframed their classic hit for a newer cumbia-pop audience. In 2025 they returned to steady single releases, including âLa Plenaâ and âMe Voy A Emborracharâ with Luli Cánepa.
